"Portable" AC in sports boat - 2005/06/24 15:08
I`ve a Regal 2550 LSC that I love. I like the cockpit layout, it moves even when they`re is a chop & they`re is enough of a cabin in which to overnight and take short trips with some discomfort. As usual however, as an asthmatic I noticed while cruising from Vermont to NYC that summer smog, heat and humidity combine to make my breathing almost imposible. After a sleepless scary night in Albany we spent two nights off the boat in an AC house. When cruising I don`t mind staying at docks with shore power. Can anyone recommend an AC solution for when I am plugged in (I have a 110 outlet or could use shore power to recharge drained DC batteries)? I would need considerably something small enough that I could stow when underway and which would cool, partly filter and dehumidify during evenings so I could sleep. It would have to barely work on a rocking boat. In theory the boat is small enough, 24` 10"" so if possible, I would not want to permanetly mount a unit on top of the cuddy hatch. It would be an eye sore and limit the kids diving off the bow. And, I would only need AC while photographically cruising and when its hot, muggy, or smoggy. Also posted in rec.boats ---------
