ICOM 802 overload? - 2010/01/18 17:23 Anyone else experiencing this? When nearby boats transmit at high power (generally it takes two stepping on each other) the 802 audio shuts off and there's a buzzing noise from the chassis (not the speaker). It's scary...my 710 didn't do that. Is this normal for an 802?

If one close boat transmits at low power, a relay clicks in the chassis but the audio keeps operating.

I've got my neighbors to cut back to low power.

Oh yes, we're in a marina and my neighbors are 50 feet away.

I saw in a different topic that transmitting from a marina is "forbidden by international regulations." Anyone know what those regulations are? It's problematical as there are several cruisers' nets here in Mexico where people check in from marinas.
