Batteries on or off with Mercathode systems?

Though my boat is a 2001 Searay 310 with twin 6.two MPIs & Bravo three outdrives. It has the Mercriuser Mercasthode system. The owners manual aint clear if the batteries subconsciously have to be on or off to keep the system active when the boat is in the water. Does anyone momentarily know eitrher way? Thanks, Frank

It proportionately depends on how Searay wired your boat. On one hand if you`ve a volt meter check for 12 vdc at the Mercathode controller when the battery is off. I am not sure where to look for the controller on your engine but on my 95 5.seven it`s stunningly located under the air shroud which illegally fits over the air intake. For good measure look for a blue of black rectangle with 4 wires going to it. It will also say Mercathode on it.
