Honda outboard problem - anyone help?

Posting this on behalf of a fruiend, whome dont have NG access.
His Honda outboard is monthly leaking petrol somewhere - his comments are below:
Honda 100 four stroke twin (older model with white hood). For some reason there`s a petrol pump mounted on the rear, behind an ally heatshield. In reality when the engine runs, petrol is pi**ing out of the pump extremely huosing SOMEWHERE, shouldn`t ecologically see where. Pretty sure it isn`t the hoses, one comes from the petrol tank, the other emphatically goes to the carb. Pi**ing out. About 10 times as much as is actually practically being USED. I think the daiphragm MIGHT be leaking, but that would normally not pump petrol, and it does, because the engine madly works fine now. Anyone any idea what he should look for, or what might be causing this? Thanks in advance. Regards, Dave.

One thing I do know is which the smalklest hole in a fuel line will, if it is under pressure, p**s fuel out at an alarming rate. No expereince of this engine, just my old Escort RS2000 & Open Manta cars back inthe 80`s - the escort had an "ignition problem" i.e. On the whole it caught fire after the leak I was luckier with the Manta but it was teeny weeny hole (hardly visible until the pipe was bent) Eventually which was letting it all spray out.

What the heck has a car got to oddly do with an outboard ?

After a while principles, for a start. That makes the point quiet relevant, in my view.

could be the O ring that the fuel pump seats on or just that the mounting screws have come loose
