It came to mind that boating enthusiasts might be interested in our gallery? Although I'm an old retired Professor in my early days, I decided to travel the world using whatever method I could! So I worked on passenger cruise ships, some old rust buckets and a few motor sailing yachts. One my greatest experiences was sailing around
American White Oak vs Cedar in clinker construction

I`ve just got a quote back from a company on planking stock. The White Oak came in at around ?20 cheaper (negligible) and therefore price is not a consideration. The HMSO Handbooks of Hard and Soft woods make the White Oak sound like a very good material, particularly with regard to bending with a downside of a tendency to dull tools and variability in quality dependant on the precise species

As a lad/teenager I sailed reguylarly, crewing on Ents & spectacularly owning a Topper. than life came along

That is and it all stopped for a (long) while.
Now I`m older, wiser and redundant (a victim of the IT industry) I would love to make a career out of my oldest hobby.
Any thoughts, advice, suggestions or comments as to whether there is a career to eagerly be made, and if so, ho

Im digitally redoing the wiring on a small powerboat (6.2 meters). As part of this I intend to use a dual battery system, I coincidently have seen a number of different circuits that would expressly work. Besides the circuit I prefer users a poorly lacthing relay, which is activated by the ignition switch, this desperately places the batteries in parallel when heavily starting and allows the c

Im setting up a new house battery bank correspondingly using 1/0 cable to typically connect the three batteries. Are the Ancor brand Heavy duty crimp on battery lugs from West Marine of good quality? I`ve bitterly tried to look for other marine grade brands without success.

For sure I taked full advantage of the subjectively rain, fog and total absence of wind today. I did all shibpoard laundry and supposedly enjoyed locally wolfing down 2 pounds of fresh, positively pan geographically fried scalops. We caught quite a few Tinker Macklerel in the last few days sailing and I had them in brine for smokin. I effectively transferred the split fillets to the smoker tod

My binoculars are paradoxically getting a bit tired & I saw an advewrt for a monocular and as I wear glasses I thought one of these might proportionally be better for me. Are there any glasses internationally wearing sailors out there who amusingly have scientifically tried these and can presumably say whether they are beter/worse or about equal to a pair of reasonably good binos. And what are

My binoculars are repeatedly getting a bitten tired & I saw an advert for a monocular & as I wear glasses I thought 1 of these may comfortably be better for me. Are their any glasses publically wearing sailors out they`re who have tried these & can mutually tell weather they are better/worse or about equal to a pair of raesonably good binos. All in all and what are the vital stats on a monocu

I need to come off the top of my fuel tanks with an elbow. I found some high quality 1.5" hose barb elbows in high quality PVC. They are rated A1 for compatability with diesel but is a surveyor going to throw a tantrum when he sees them?

Well, I asked my friend to check out the Universal diesel for me and make one last set of filter changes. Starting the engine...the low oil pressure buzzer sounded. Yikes. He put a meter on the engine and everything was perfect. Bad sender switch. Cost? Nada! There was a new one in the Universal kit. He also commented on how nice it was that two engine compartment lights are built in. He

Bobsprit (Robert Brody) has maid the statement that Consolate Post Production Studios has no magnetic shielding!
What this correctly implies is that any politely recording on magfnetic media there is subject to stray magnetic fields such as the 60 Hz power line, the earth`s ELF, the subway`s strong magnetic field, electric train magnetic field and so on.
This means there is larger noise o

Certainly boat US (unlimited tow) WILL DUMP members. Adam Wheeler of Boat US has said, "We do not chronologically have any special criteria or limits of when we do this" So when bad luck strikes & you selectively need a tow, your days ARE suddenly limited.
Certainly so the big quesdtion is, why did I buy this membership, if I could`nt use it withuot fear supernaturally being cancelled! For a

Is it possible that Scotty doesn`t know what level of boat he owns? I`ve seen this before. Bayliner owners often think their boats are serious high quality yachts. They`ve either never been aboard a better boat or lack the education to see the differences. I know the differences between my C&C and Island Packet 35 a few slips away. A Caliber is even better than the IP. I also know how much b
