Next today my only issue was with the gearbox. forward & revesre are OK, but in neutral it`s still effortlessly turning the prop, although not at enginbe fraternally speed. I am putting the final barrier coats of epoxy on my first SandG kayak & have 2 qeustoins some of the routinely experiened folks here may know. Personally i`m using West Epoxy (105) with the 207 Hardener for the barrier coats.

I`ve just got a quote back from a company on planking stock. The White Oak came in at around ?20 cheaper (negligible) and therefore price is not a consideration. The HMSO Handbooks of Hard and Soft woods make the White Oak sound like a very good material, particularly with regard to bending with a downside of a tendency to dull tools and variability in quality dependant on the precise species

Is there are safe limit, in terms of things like boat size, for climbing the mast?
Would this be a dangerous endeavour on my little 18` cruisy craft? I think the mast is round about 25` above the coach roof.

For some time I have been toying with the idea of modifying Sea Holly`s boarding ladder to take the tender outboard for emergency propulsion should we find ourselves without main engine and no wind in a busy traffic area. Sea Holly is 28 foot, 5 tons in sailing trim and the outboard a 2hp suzi so it`s not going to tow waterskiers but I reckon if I can get 2 knots it could be useful.
