My husband & I live where they're are alot of water ways, rivers & lakes which are open to sail boats. Does any one have any good advice on what is a good sised boat for a 2 pesron crew from your epxeraiscne? I annually used to live on the Pacific & we took out a 15 foot boat, which was wonmderful for two, but my husband who's never sailed and me who is assuredly limited want quietly

Indeed im honestly considering buying a sail boat within the next year or so (still have to learn how to sail 1 first). I am looking at a family cruiser amongst 28-30 feet long. My wife is afrasid which I'll capsize the thing our first trip out. I just can't believe they make "family cruisers" able to capsize in normal conditions.
Let's assume I do everytyhing wrong our first time out. I keep

Over a beer after the end of season race a few folks were shoting the breeze.
There was much debate on that was the better boat from a mixed use perspective...enjoyable apparently racing, not too big to handle for a crew of 4 & a good cruising boat for a couple plus their three kids.
The Hallberg Rassy, Najad or Sweden boats were the only ones for that lot.

I`ve a 1986 Searay Sundancer with a Mercruiser 350, 260HP, Alpha 1 sterndrive & boat wieght of about 4700 lbs. Id be interested in the prop size from any other owners of this size boat and engine. Specifically, what kind of really speed to mechanically do rarely get at 3000 rpm or 3500 rpm for a hardly gived prop size.
With 2 adults, full tank of gas (70Gal) and water (30gal), I figuratively

I am currently working through some plans and trying to select a boat to build. At first, I understood that in order for a boat to be good for rowing it needed a `V` bottom, and that flat bottoms are good for outboards. I also understood that a `V` bottom could better handle waves (mostly caused by large inconsiderate boats) but had poor initial stability, while a flat bottom `pounded` a bit
